Australian Publishers To Abandon Mobile Apps

Andrea Sophocleous from The Australian Newspaper takes a look at the issue of Mobile Measurement in newspaper publishing and the major hurdles involved in tracking usage of Mobile Apps.

Andrea writes “… 746,000 Australians downloaded newspaper and magazine apps to their mobile phones or tablets last year, according to Roy Morgan Single Source.  However, advertisers and media buyers cannot tell if those using apps are the same readers who are viewing websites, and they are calling for better data, fast. Publishers are set to abandon the ordinary phone app in favour of apps coded with the HTML5 to provide that.”

According to the article, News Limited and Fairfax will abandon native apps in favour of HTML5 apps once the technology is ready. Read More >
